Pilates


Pilates is an exercise method developed by its founder Joseph Pilates dedicated to improving physical and mental health. 

Pilates focuses on building the body's core strength and improving your posture through a series of low repetition low impact stretching and conditioning exercises.  It is a wonderful form of exercise, suitable to any age and ability providing many benefits such as:



Our bodies become accustomed to working in a certain way due to environmental pressures, lifestyles, occupation, stress etc.  Pilates works the muscles from the inside out,  thereby helping to re-educate the brain and how it controls the muscles.  In turn this corrects muscular imbalances, promotes good alignment and posture and restores homeostasis within the body’s system maximising energy efficiency.

Classes are primarily mat based and can incorporate the use of small equipment which will be provided.

Class numbers are limited to 10-12 to ensure that you receive the level of tuition necessary.  Beginners classes are suitable for those completely new to Pilates but also for those who have been practising for some time, progressions are always offered throughout the class.  

One to one tuition or small group classes are also available.  Please contact me directly to discuss.

Before you start any of our Pilates classes we do require you to print off and fill in a short Physical Fitness questionnaire. Once you have done this please can you sign it and bring it along to your first Pilates Class.
